My Students

Twenty-first century learners are technologically savvy; especially my fifth graders. These kids are ready for hands-on learning through exploration, discussion, and collaboration.

COVID has thrown a wrench in education.

The students are resilient and will persevere. I would love to offer them as much support and good memories as I can for this difficult school year.

My Project

My fifth graders are eager to learn. They enjoy coming to school and love to share their ideas, thoughts, and experiences. I am so happy we are doing in-person learning this year.

In an effort to reduce the spread of germs while keeping in-person learning, it is important that each student have their own set of materials needed.

Unfortunately, this means that students need to stop sharing math manipulatives. I am hoping to get enough supplies that each student can have their own set.

We will use these manipulatives to teach volume. It can be difficult for 5th graders to understand BxWxH=V without being able touch, count, and manipulate an object. These manipulatives are versatile and can be used with many math lessons. They also reinforce general number sense and add a feeling of fun to learning math.

Teach, clean, repeat. Stop the spread.
