Help me give my students a book return cart for the library. My students are avid readers and greatly enjoy checking out books from the library and need the book cart to return the books.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school, primarily serving under privileged children from the neighborhood, which is fortunate enough to be located in a culturally diverse and historically rich community in New York City.
Last year was the grand opening of the Library Commons, the student's very first school library!
It has become a school-wide hub!
Students from pre-kindergarten into eighth grade are able to attend classes and learn digital and information literacy as well as foster their love for reading.
My Project
As the librarian, I greatly enjoy the love of reading I am instilling in my students. Students have learned how to check books out of the library and can share their love of reading with their parents and siblings at home.
For years our students have been without a library.
This is the second year our students have had the luxury of a library and now that they finally have the library they deserve they are elated with their newfound access to information and technology.
This book drop will allow students to safely and independently return their books to the library throughout the day and after school.
