Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is a safe, comfortable environment where students are happy to be with one another. During Reader's Workshop, students can be found lying on the carpet, sprawled out on a beanbag chairs, or relaxing under their desks listening to the mellow sounds of new age music. The remainder of the morning includes a rotation cycle of practicing reading skills, followed by independent writer's workshop. Mid morning math usually begins with a number talk, shared strategies, lessons, and practice. Most students are not shy about sharing strategies and leading discussions. Afternoons include alternating project based STEM and social studies activities. Students enjoy working collaboratively.
My Project
Stop motion is a fun and creative way for students to learn social studies, and science, while utilizing skills such as design and writing.
From storyboarding to script writing and production, projects will be student generated.
Collaborative work is an important component of every classroom. What could be more exciting than creating a short film! Projects will include California Mission themes for social studies, and photosynthesis for science.
Students love choice and options. This project provides them with an innovative path to learning, that they will be able to use for future projects throughout their student life. We have one ipad and need another one so two groups of four can work at the same time.
