Mrs. Cassidy from West Palm Beach FL is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a listening center, which includes a CD player and headphones, rhyming books on CD, phonics activities on CD, and beginning reader books on CD.

Many of my students begin school without any prior education. It is my responsibility, commitment and passion as a teacher to help my students learn to read and create a love for reading as well. I am determined to lay down the foundation for my students success for the rest of their lives.
I currently work in an inner city school in Florida where many of the children live in areas with high levels of poverty.
Many students are unable to afford classroom supplies, and as a teacher I am unable to provide all the necessary supplies they need on my own. My students come to school eager to learn and want to do their very best every day. I strive to do everything I can to provide them with the best education possible. A donation will allow me to engage the students in fun as well as educational activities throughout the school year. My students success in school is my top priority and a donation will help them succeed as students and will help me succeed in starting them off on the right path in life.
During reading centers, it is important to have a listening center for students to utilize. In Kindergarten, it is vital that students are able to hear fluent reading on a daily basis. This enables them to become fluent readers themselves. I want my students to be confident in their reading and gain confidence within themselves. The listening center which includes headphones will allow up to eight of my students to be able to participate in a listening activity. With the listening books, my students will learn rhyming words, phonics/phonemic awareness skills, and hear fluent readers. Each of my students will be able to use the listening center throughout the entire school year.
As a teacher, I only want the best for all of my students.
I want them to have all of the necessary materials they need in order to be successful in school. With a donation, my students will be able to participate in listening center activities throughout the school year. This will help in their journey to becoming independent and fluent readers.
