Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of working with some of the most wonderful and unique students around. Each student brings a unique skill set to the classroom.
As a teacher, I work hard to ensure that the needs of each specific student are met.
My school is a Title I school that provides free and reduced price lunches to all students. My students are eager to learn and explore despite hardships that they might and do face outside of the classroom.
My Project
This project will provide my class with much needed organizational pieces to help organize our classroom and replace older materials. We need book buckets, new white boards, new chairs to replace our old pillow seats that are worn, and an organizer for our small group time. Many of our buckets and comfy seating have been used for years and are breaking, have lids missing and need to be replaced.
This project directly affects my students through individualized organization.
For example, during whole group, I am able to ask a questions and have student write the answer on their white boards. Students then are able to show me their white boards in order to do a quick check of who understands or does not understand a concept. This also allows my students to not feel embarrassed when I ask a questions and allows all students to participate.
Creating a clean and organized space in the classroom creates a welcoming and productive space for students. This project allows for that space to be created. These supplies are not to just be used with this group of students, but for students that I will have in the coming years.
