My students need a class set of this book. It speaks to the topic of bullying which needs to be addressed in our class/school.
We are a German class in a dual language immersion program. My students are creative, motivated but are lacking some social skills. Some of my students have social issues going on with their peers that started in Kindergarten.
Especially for my students who are getting ready to go to middle school I believe it is of most importance to discuss this topic.
We do read literature in both English and German. But we are missing an English class set of books that will help to teach the skills the common core standards require.
Students will read and discuss the book using material from Teachers pay Teachers. This book will help to increase awareness of students in regards to the topic of bullying.
Reading and discussing this topic using the book as a stepping stone will be a tremendous help to have discussion motives.
Students will have to analyze other people's behavior and apply things they learned to their own lives. The book and our concluding discussions will give students an alternative perspective to just shutting down and being frustrated.
The book will offer feedback to certain bullying situations and will show students that it is okay to talk about things.
