Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students not only come from a low income area, but they are also working to learn the English language. Despite all the hardships they have outside of school, they come to school ready to learn.
I teach at a Title I school, where 88% of our students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.
We provide Blessings in a Backpack, where students can take a bag of food home on the weekends.
Regardless of their circumstances, my students walk into my classroom with smiles on their faces. They are so eager to learn. They deserve the materials that will help to push them to reach their full potential.
My Project
I am asking for help to get my students adjustable stools. One of my students' favorite flexible seating to use in the class is the standing desk. I currently have four standing desks, but find that the students can only use them for a short period of time. Adjustable stools would allow them to rest while using the standing desk. This is just one more way I am going to extend my flexible seating in my classroom.
When my students use the standing desk, they are more focused and more engaged in their work.
The chairs that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make a more productive learning environment.
