Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
During this school year, I will focus on bringing science into my students' lives. I want to create a classroom that grabs their attention and makes them want to learn through science. I teach in a high poverty area where students do not have many opportunities to go to science museums or see scientist in action. I would like to bring that world to them in my classroom.
I believe that science in an extremely important part of education in our world today, even coming from a high poverty area at least half of my students will have a career involving science.
As important as it is to society, elementary schools are struggling finding the time during the day to teach basic science concepts. As this is the last year these students will be in an elementary school, I want to make sure that they have the education to move on in higher grades. I am working to produce successful members of society. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
My Project
I currently have several broken chairs in my classroom. These chairs although missing feet and broken are used everyday by my 6th graders because we have no other options.
We need stools and a rug which will be used for students to sit on during our math and science class.
In this way we will be able to remove the chairs that are unsafe for student use, such as the chairs that pinch a student's behind, and the chairs that are missing feet, therefore uneven when students sit on them. Please help us get new seating in our classroom so our learning environment will be a successful one.
