Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Title I public school, we are prepared to welcome and embrace every kid from all walks of life. My students come from a very wide range of situations. Some have healthy happy childhoods, and others have found a safe place within our school community. No matter where they are coming from, all of these students grow their passion for learning and being more successful within our walls.
Like all classrooms, in our community we have a wide variety of special needs and learning abilities.
The unique thing about our group of students is that we focus on growing and supporting the whole child and not limiting our job to just their education. In our class, students are learning about social and emotional life skills, and how to prepare themselves to have a job in 5-10 years, as well as all the necessary 4th grade curriculums! It's an amazing place for these incredible little minds to grow and thrive in a safe and welcoming environment.
My Project
At our school we encourage that all students find the way that they learn best. This could be whether they are a visual learner or one that learns best by listening? It could also mean that they choose where in the classroom they are the most productive. This being said, as a teacher I want to ensure that students have everything they need to support their learning habits!
We are requesting Kore Patented WOBBLE chairs soft seating stools, stacking stools and bouncy bands that students with special needs will use for constant movement throughout the day.
These are incredible chairs that impact how much a students who have trouble keeping their attention on the learning. The Norwood stack stools will be used at one of our classroom community tables for students to use at any time in the day. These stools are used as an alternative seat for those who need diversity in their surroundings to best learn! The kick bands allow for ALL of the students in the class to have access to movement throughout the day. These chair fidget bands help students focus on content and learning new material instead of being distracted by their built-up energy! Last but not least, the soft seating stools will allow for differentiated seating for work time throughout the day! This allows for students who are not able to learn best at their seat to explore whether these soft stools are their best learning environment! All of these items and this continuing project ensures that as a class we have the type of seating in my class that allows for ALL learners to do their best and explore how they learn best!
