Mrs. Morris from Georgetown DE is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the convenience of learning where they are most comfortable; the addition of more stools within our classroom allows my students to be actively involved where it best suits them.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are ten and eleven years old; 64% are of Hispanic descent and come from Spanish speaking families, 14% are African American and the remaining 22% are White Americans. The entire classroom qualifies for either free or reduced price lunch in a district wherein no classroom monetary budget exists. All of the students are eager to learn and it is easy to incorporate hands on and partnered exercises without incident allowing more creativity and interactive learning. It is essential that the instruction offers many opportunities to build background knowledge because of the students' deficiency in experiences inside the home. In the classroom, we use various types of manipulatives, music and videos, which allow me to break linguistic barriers and aide in fostering conceptual understanding which is the foundation of mathematical proficiency.
My students have the desire to learn and both change and convenience are essential to the learning process. Content and concepts must be taught and practiced to earn proficiency.
Through the use of the additional classroom stools, dry erasers, and expo markers the students can easily practice various content areas without being boggled down with paper and pencil.
When pencil and paper are necessary, the requested pencil cap erasers allow my students to take charge of their learning, using trial and error as we identify a solution to a problem. The electric pencil sharpener is necessary because pencils are necessary in a classroom and a high quality sharpened pencil enhances penmanship.
