My students need a printer and ink to complete handwriting and spelling activities. They also need literature about dyslexia along with basic classroom supplies that support their reading and writing.

My Students
I have been teaching for 26 years in all content areas. (Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) I've had the pleasure of servicing Gifted and Talented, English Language Learners, and our Special Education Population. As I worked year after year with these students I realized that more students needed intense reading instruction.
Dyslexia students need more intense instruction in phonological awareness, phonemes, and basic language instruction.
Recently I have joined the Dyslexia Dream Team and after receiving Reading Readiness,Meta cognitive Strategies, and Basic Language Skills Training. I will be able to service dyslexic students with intensive reading instruction to help close the gaps that many have received in their learning.
My Project
As a traveling Dyslexia interventionist I would like my students to have the same resources in all their classes. Often time students that receive interventions can feel isolated. In this project I have included several nonfiction and fiction book to help students, parents, and teachers understand dyslexia and erase some of the myths of dyslexia. The classroom supplies will help relieve the financial burden of buying duplicate supplies over multiple classes.
Although dyslexia is known to be a reading disability, I want my students to feel safe and appreciate dyslexia as a gift.
I will use these materials to teach basic language skill with the focus on phonemic awareness along with meta cognitive strategies.
