Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of providing send out services for a great group of 4th and 5th grade students at two elementary schools in a rapidly growing school district. These bright, capable students are smart and creative and need new challenges daily. The students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and a majority of these students are English language learners. As the next generation of leaders and innovators they need to develop critical thinking skills and financial literacy skills needed to participate in the United States' Economic system. By learning and practicing both critical thinking and financial literacy skills, students are better prepared to become productive citizens as adults.
My Project
My students need the opportunity to experience the United States economy by participating in the Stock Market Game simulation. By covering the team fees for my students, you will be providing them with the opportunity to engage in real world financial literacy though a simulation!
The Stock Market Game simulation will provide my students with a chance to dabble in the Stock Market, buying stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
By studying how the stock market, businesses and the US economy interact, they can learn to invest and plan for their future. It is a chance for them to learn by simulating the trading of stocks, bonds and mutual funds they have researched. My students will be participating in the year long simulation so that they can begin to understand that the Stock Market is a long term investment.
