Our school is a public four-year high school with a wide range of students from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 35-40% of our student body participates in fine arts on some level. Offering our music students the chance to succeed is my top priority. We strive daily to make opportunities available for our high school students to further their musical skills and expand their horizons.
Students attending our school have earned recognition at the district, state, regional, and national level.
We have alumni working on Broadway, teaching college and public school music, and performing as professionals all over the world. Our music department has a 100+ year history of excellence, and we try every day to live up to that legacy. We offer jazz band, two levels of string orchestra, and concert band, pep band, and marching band. We also have strong choral, guitar, drama, and fine arts programs.
My Project
In every music program, there are needs. In our case, we need some of the basics for woodwind, string and brass players to be able to perform effectively.
Many of our music students are not able to afford some of this basic equipment, so having extra reeds, mutes and valve oil on hand is extremely important to the continuity of our program.
It means so much when a student with limited resources comes to me asking for help with a reed and I can just hand him one.
Maintaining an inventory of instruments can be a daunting task, but with your help, we can continue to provide a high-quality music education to our students.
