My Students
My students come from East Houston. Most of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. The apartments that surround the school, where the majority of the students live, were so devastated by Hurricane Harvey that most of my students' apartments were flooded and they needed to evacuate. Majority of my students are living with extended family, friends, or in a shelter. Their lives changed drastically due to the hurricane. I want to continue to support them now that we are back in school. School should be the place they feel safe.
My Project
In my classroom, I have 30+ computers that my students use daily to work on projects and work on keyboarding. As a reward for my Kinder-2nd grade students I give them little packets of fruit snacks for good behavior and doing a good job on their projects. The speakers and aux cord will help with the different educational videos my students watch on the projector. Since my classroom is a part of a rotation, I have about 125 students in and out of my lab everyday so our computer desk and mice can get very messy. The cleaning supplies such as the disinfectant spray will help keep my students healthy and clean along with the facial tissue.
Without these supplies my class can easily become chaotic through dirty desks and hands.
Many of these materials are essential classroom supplies. These supplies allow for the daily function of classroom learning and collaboration.
