Stirring Up Those Creative Juices!

My students need paper, glue sticks, scissors, markers and other supplies in order to complete the science posters and reports we plan to do this semester.

My Students

Creativity is such a magical thing and my students are ready to get started on their science posters and reports. After rummaging through our supplies, they realized the posters were going to be drab as we were limited in what we had to work with.

We have a melting pot of students.

All have special needs in some way. Some have learning disabilities, some emotional problems, and some physical or mental challenges. We all work together to make sure that they feel important and have the resources they need to make it in this world. Our school is a great school combining a magnet program with a community school. We pride ourselves as staff to make this school the best we can and set high expectations for all students who attend, regardless of their academic level.

My Project

We have planned in the 2nd semester curriculum to complete projects which include a poster and a report that the students complete. These projects are all about science and we have given the students the ability to take any subject they want and apply it to science in some way. By allowing the freedom to choose, we are opening their minds and challenging them to look at science in all aspects of their lives, not just the textbooks and the classroom. We want them to be able to use a lot of different colors and have all the supplies they need to complete their assignment and be excited about the finished product. Not only will they educate themselves on different science topics, but will be able to create something that we can post for all the school to see.

We have tried for 2 years to get our supplies restocked.

It is so rewarding to see how hard my students work when they have the right supplies to get it done. Not only can they work on these projects but will be able to work on many to come. With special needs students, the difference is so immediate, as they are just so thankful for the support and assistance that they normally don't see. Please help our students create these wonderful posters so the entire school can see how they did.
