Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Each day, my students come to my class to receive the extra support and individualized attention they require to meet their academic goals.
My students face significant struggles in their general education classrooms and are often overwhelmed and extremely frustrated. I am committed to creating an environment that supports their academic needs, social-emotional growth, and behavioral milestones. Flexible seating, sensory stations, and materials that support their learning challenges are all essential for my classroom's success. My classroom is where students can learn in the way that works best for them!
My Project
The following materials are for students who are hands on learners that love using sensory tools and technology to aide in their learning. The supplies will be utilized to create sensory STEAM stations to further special need students 21'st century STEAM skills. These items will significantly help with overall retention. Also, to make the learning experience more exciting during activities.
The boogie boards would provide an awesome source of technology that my students would greatly benefit from.
The students will be able to utilize a variety of STEAM applications that would increase their overall knowledge, while at the same time improving attentiveness and retention. The hot dot tools will be used to encourage students to learn basic math concepts in a new and exciting manner.
The LEGO toolkits will allow the students to build and code interactive, motorized robots. Contributing to their exploration of engineering, math and science principles. these kits would demonstrate how technology is utilized across multiple platforms.
I know there are quite a few items in the cart, but all of these items will be put to excellent use. Currently I'm working with very limited supplies. I recently took over a RSP classroom that is in dire need of new resources to motivate and increase student learning. The district does everything they can to aid and support our students, but we are a very high poverty school district. I attempt to purchase and aid as much as possible, but I can only do so much myself. Any contributions to the revamp of my classroom will be greatly appreciated.
