Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth grade class is a wonderful bunch of English Language Learners with widespread interests and talents. They have overcome many obstacles growing up in a low-income/high-need urban community. Many of them are trying to learn English, even as they are trying to master tough academic concepts and skills.
They continue to surprise and inspire me with their resilience and hard work every day.
My students are genuinely excited to learn, and still love coming to school every day. I want to nurture that curiosity, and help them discover their full potential.
My Project
We make notes and record our learning all day long - in notebooks, on walls, in charts, in books, on drafts. These "sticky" supplies will help us keep our notes, posters and ideas where we want them.
Post-its, glue and tape are essential classroom supplies for keeping our thoughts together.
We use post-its to mark important passages in books, organize our ideas for writing, remembering what our next steps are. They are an indispensable part of our daily routines, as are essentials like tape and glue.
These resources are tools that we use everyday, and are forever running short on. This grant will help us start 2019 re-supplied and ready for the serious work ahead of us.
