This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Special Education Preschool in a small agriculture town. I currently have 15 wonderful preschoolers who are eager to learn and grow in a preschool setting. I want to provide my students with a variety of manipulatives and games to support their diverse learning styles. Being in a non-categorical classroom also means I have very diverse backgrounds and abilities. I work with students who come with specific diverse disabilities which can include, children with autism, down syndrome, and other orthopedic/health impairments.

My goal is to provide my students with an enriching preschool experience that supports all of their developmental domains, language, literacy, cognition, social-emotional development, motor, and adaptive or daily living skills.

As a preschool teacher we support students in many ways, socially, cognitively, behaviorally, academically as well as specifically stated supports in their IEP.

My 3-5 year old students are all on different levels of what they are learning, many students are learning to communicate their wants and needs and others are practicing identifying and managing their emotions. As a preschool teacher I want to prepare my students for elementary school by providing them with diverse and tactile materials that will support school readiness and exposure to academics.

My Project

In preschool we are learning not only about how to play, write, and sit… we are working really hard on learning to express our thoughts and emotions. Art is a fun way to display everything that is being learned as well as how we are feeling!

Give my students the materials to create and find their love of arts & crafts.

Using play dough is a fun sensory activity and fun way to be creative. Beads, sequins, stickers and yarn will look great in our sensory bottles. These will be utilized as a calm down tool. I want my students to have a variety of different materials to learn and express themselves.
