Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with two classes of third grade students teaching them math, science, and social studies. My young scholars are eager to learn even when they don't always have the tools to do so.
When I last saw my students on March 6 as we left for spring break, we didn't know how much our daily school routine would be changed forever.
They did not bring home their school supplies or workbooks to work in and many do not have access to a device to complete online assignments.
My Project
I was lucky enough to be the recipient of the Keep Kids Learning pilot grant and sent some basic school supplies to my two classes. They loved receiving a package and my parents commented that some students had never received something in the mail addressed to them.

In this project I am requesting postage and postcard stamps and various colors of envelopes to be able to send mail to my students at home. With these materials I will be able to keep in contact with my students throughout the summer months as well. In the envelope my students might find an award for completing assignments, stickers, or maybe even a special pencil. I just want to keep my students motivated to continue learning and "stick to it" until we are able to safely return to school next year.
