This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a Title I school in a rural community, and all of our students receive free lunch. We are fully inclusive, and all of my students work together to help each other succeed.

They work hard using tools they've learned in the classroom to solve problems and achieve success.

They are eager to learn and participate.

Every day our kids face incredible challenges at home with which most adults do not contend, yet they come to school eager to learn and work in the classroom.

My Project

I recently attended a training on restorative practices and how to implement them in my classroom to help build a community in the classroom. My hope with the Qball is to amplify my students' voices during our restorative circle and to also increase their participation during our core subjects.

Most students will want to be given the opportunity to step up to the microphone and participate in the class discussion, especially when they can throw the mic and be heard clearly by their peers.

The Qball is a throwable wireless microphone designed for audience participation. The Qball will be used to enhance students' voice, engagement and participation in the classroom to help them become active participants in their own learning.
