My Students

My students attend the upper elementary campus in my district. We are a mid-sized city in our state and by far the largest city in our vicinity of the state.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The students who set foot in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds, family situations, and life experiences.

It is my challenge each year to prepare them for the journey of life, and this stock market game simulation is one way to do that.

My Project

My students are always eager for a challenge. I try to relate everything in their world to economics. For example, the shoes they wear have an economic connection through production but also they are an investment tool. Based on the shoes they like, they may decide to become an investor in that company. To do that, they would want to be well informed about their investment.

So, I challenge students to research, look at headline news and find out which companies are the best investments for them.

This simulation with a virtual $100,000 portfolio online allows them then to take the next step and invest their virtual cash into a portfolio of stock investments.
