Mrs. Edwards from Winterville NC is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a variety of building materials, pencil boxes for storage, and an easel pad to write or draw about their creations.

I have 21 fantastic kindergarten students this year! I have a mixed population of Caucasian, Arabic, Vietnamese, and African American students. Our school is a title one school. 55% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are revved up to learn and have bubbling personalities.
These sweet children have developed a love for discovering their world through hands on experiences.
This year I am striving to support students curiosity through STEM kits that allow students to learn about engineering and much more. Our school is incredibly welcoming and supportive, but there is not always money for extra materials in the classroom.
My students are young learners full of curiosity with a bright future ahead of them. They love to explore the world around them and find new ways to challenge themselves. Unfortunately school can often lack opportunities for students to channel their creativity into a beneficial task. There is so much emphasis on the standards and lack of time that students often miss opportunities to consistently learn through hands-on experiences. This is where STEM bins come in. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through hands-on play, my students will learn concepts taught in all of these subjects. In Kindergarten, my students will begin to learn about careers that could take them into their own futures.
STEM allows students to use what they already know about these subjects to practice building and crafting new creations.
Through STEM, students learn how to plan, strategize, build, test, and manipulate. They will earn about gravity, physics, and so much more. I have already purchased a STEM bundle. In the bundle, it has challenges for students. Each student will be given images of buildings, structures, types of transportation, etc. They will be challenged to use the different materials I am requesting in this project to create the structures. Some of the materials they will need are magnetic tiles, Legos, and plank building blocks. The materials will challenge students to use their knowledge of stem and unconventional building materials to create something amazing. Students will also be challenged to write about how their creations can be used and improved. The materials purchased through this project will allow students new opportunities to explore, build, and create. I want my students to know that they have the ability to take ordinary things and make them extraordinary!
