This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from lower-level income families. Most reside near our campus, on the north side of Columbus, OH. The neighborhoods where these students live are very dangerous. Drug abuse and gang activity are just two of the factors that make daily life risky.
Providing these students academic opportunities is the core mission of our school.
All students deserve to have equal access to a great learning environment, and that is what we're trying to enhance through this project. Athletics not only enhances the educational experience of our students, it also provides them with a positive outlet to help them from making negative life-altering decisions.
My Project
This project is requesting different training tools. The items selected are basketball defenders, bungee cords and shooting spots.
Basketball is played in the winter, but the journey to becoming the best possible player is neverending, and it continues year-round.
The items in this project will help our players become the best players that they could possibly be, by helping to address our offensive and athletic issues. The defenders give obstacles that players must learn to navigate to simulate game-like situations. The bungee cords help by improving explosiveness and overall athleticism. The shooting spots are important for shooting drills and also marking starting positions for our offensive plays.
