Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My husband and I are PROUD teachers of little minds in high needs schools.
These little minds do many GRAND things in spite of the many challenges they face as a result of poverty and trauma. In addition, the majority of my students have the challenge of learning to speak English.
Every day, we teachers enter the "arena" with our students. We strive to help them reach new heights. We push them to overcome what seems at times to be insurmountable odds. When they fall, we teach them how to get back up. When they succeed, we cheer them onward. We spend time and money to provide for their physical and emotional needs.
I LOVE my students fiercely and have come to Donors Choose to help me continue to meet the unique needs of my young learners. Thank you for your consideration!
My Project
Young children are naturally active. They need engaging materials and a safe, comfortable learning environment. Brain research shows students who have experienced poverty and trauma often need additional support to help them learn. In addition, calm, happy brains are learning brains.
By helping to fund the items in my project, you are helping to provide my students with a learning environment that is flexible to their physical, academic, and emotional needs.
For example, the chair bands and cushions will help my students who have attention difficulties to focus on activities. The literacy activities will enhance my Language Arts instruction and will provide activities that can help my English language learners learn to read.
