Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are between the ages of four and five. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.
This age group requires math manipulatives, science experiments, creative play, engineering building blocks and a well organized color coded classroom
We are a Title I School and PHBAO (Predominately Hispanic, Black, or other.) Many of these students come to school without the basic foundation needed to succeed, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.
My Project
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. A curriculum that is STEM-based has real-life situations that help the student learn. We recently were fortunate enough to have two STEM projects fully funded with math manipulatives and science experiments.
This COLOR CODED STORAGE SHELF will help the students keep the Science Experiment Kits, Engineering Gears and Math Manipulatives we just recieved through Donors Choose ready to use.
The students will be able to organized a variety of Stem manipulatives such as meausuring tapes, sink and float kits, eausurement and data kits, ramps, car building wheels and parts, magnetic wands, magnefying glasses, water droppers, whisks, geometric pattern shapes, volume cubes, place value blocks, math links, unifix cubes, etc....
The color coded tray shelf will help students keep the materials at their disposal and reshelve efficienlyt after using the materials for Science, Engeneering, experiements or Math.
My students will understand that math and science can be exciting and interesting. They will be able to master the New Generation Science Standards as well the The Common Core Math Standards while keeping materials organized and accounted for.
