My Students
As a teacher and the K-5 Science Content Leader in a Title I elementary school, I often times notice that our students are not exposed to science outside of the classroom. Over seventy percent of our campus is on free or reduced-price lunch and often times, we have students who are not capable of even having their parents supply their own school supplies.
Our school is located in an area that was hit and affected by Hurricane Harvey, but our students are actively coming to school eager to learn.
In my classroom, I work hard to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment for learning and seek ways to make learning innovative. We have created a culture on our campus where our students actually look forward to the bus pulling up at their houses in the morning to bring them to school.
These kids will take advantage of any learning opportunity that is brought their way. Our motto at our campus is reach for the stars and our students do their best to reach beyond them.
My Project
Our 5th grade class is the FIRST class that started at our school since kinder. We are so excited and want to do something special for them so why not a luau!
We want our kids to know that after their experiences with Hurricane Harvey we love them and want to send them great vibes and wishes for the next school year.
We plan on keeping these supplies to use with the students next year as well and have an annual luau.
We want to give each student a lei to wear and use the decorations to decorate our gym. We also want to give each student drinks to put in the inflatable pools. We look forward to sending our students off with a bang!
The scene setters will be used as a photo booth station and decorations for the gym. The props will be used at the photo station as well. We will use the paper for our memory books. We will use the leis as a keepsake for the kids. We will use the drawstring totes to fill up with goodies for the kids to take with them when they leave the party. This party will be held on May 17, 2018, from 5-9pm. We want our title one kids to feel special and know that they can have nice events as well.
