My students need comfy chairs for building and creating on the floor, Lego mini-figures for creative learning, 3-D pen refills, modeling clay, clay utensils, and Littlebits building pieces for STEAM activities.
When my students come to class, their eyes light up and they look eager to begin. Many of my students come to my class two days a week for one hour. A few classes come to me one day a week for one hour. My sixth and seventh graders come to my class five days a week for one hour. They learn by researching, collaborating, creating, and presenting. They practice problem-solving skills by completing activities such as building robots, coding, creating machines, building circuits, and completing modules such as one that taught them how animal adaptations can help humans survive.
My students make me eager to teach because they genuinely seem to care.
They are excited about STEM/STEAM and excited about learning how to improve the world around us. However, we are just getting started at our school and are only in our fifth year of being open. DCS opened its doors to offer a choice to the community for an education where science, math, and technology are more incorporated into the curriculum. As a project-based-learning school, hands-on learning and creativity are encouraged. Building up the resources at our school, including our class, will help inspire my students.
My Project
We are excited about this year and hope to continue to grow in areas of STEM/STEAM. We are preparing our minds for the future and learning skills for tomorrows jobs.

We would like bean bag chairs to sit in while we are working on projects on the floor, a Littlebit STEAM circuit set to work on creative projects that incorporate technology, and refills for our classroom 3Doodler pen. We would also like extra Lego mini-figures, modeling clay, and clay molding utensils to help get our younger students interested in the field of engineering.
