My Students
How ecstatic would it be for my scholars to have rigorous activities to increase their learning abilities? As a teacher at a Title I low income school, I educate students that receive free or reduced lunch. My kindergarten classroom is a nurturing class, where students feel safe and comfortable. Kindergarten is a vital year for my students, being their first experience with education. My students come to school daily, curious to learn and explore new things. Often my scholars are nervous about reading because of fear of saying the wrong thing. With these engaging supplies my scholars, our future, will build their confidence and literacy skills for reading.
My Project
Our school is considered to be a Magnet STEM school; however, current budget cuts have limited the resources that we can obtain to create STEM-based learning experiences for my students. Much of our learning takes place during station times. During stations, students independently rotate to complete a variety of learning tasks. Although we have a science block, time is limited and oftentimes science is overlooked. My students would receive effective science exposure through incorporated science centers. While doing science exploration, the Harebrain Whisperphones will help my students practice their fluency speaking skills. The STEM Bundle kit and Storytelling Lapboard would independently allow them to explore science concepts. Their exploration would have advanced learning exposure to real-world science techniques. The flexible seating will provide more rigor of the exploration process.
