Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten this year. About 90% of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch. All of the students in my classroom are bilingual students. In my classroom we work on strengthening our Spanish reading, writing and speaking skills. Some of my students come from difficult family lives, but they don't let that stop them from learning and trying their best!
Most students are living with a single parent, grandparent or both parents who work full time, although many parents are eager to help in anyway they can I want to help them provide the best for their child.
I plan on building a community in our classroom that will allow each student to feel comfortable and express their creativity. I want to support my students the best I can! They like to move, they love to be part of our community, and they love lots of positive attention.
My Project
I've been using more STEM activities and concepts in my kindergarten classroom this year. I have continued to try new things and adjusted to make things more beneficial for my students. STEM is not a step by step project, it requires students to think and redesign their ideas. With this project I am requesting ART and additional STEM materials to incorporate into our learning.
I want to provide my students with more STEM stations and include art into our activities!
I am needing the crayons and markers so that students can plan their designs. The stools will provide flexible seating for my students to move around the room and work. The clipboards will make it easy for my
students to write their ideas and redesign their ideas.
