My Project

My students are so creative and critical thinkers! Students in my STEM class learn the engineering design process and use their creativity to design STEM challenges or solve problems. Our STEM focuses this year is on sustainability and our students will be involved in making projects with a sustainability theme and will be designing a sustainable garden and outdoor classroom for our school campus.

The students will use the STEM "wish" list items for their projects that focuses on maintaining the environment and natural resources.

For example, the circuit maker will help students learn smart technology that will be useful in their future careers and help to create vinyl's, stickers, signage, die cuts, cut perfect squares and shapes, make dimensional projects including models, and cut materials allowing curves and angles. In addition, the Document Camera allows me to project documents, 3-D objects, slides, and microscopic images, as well as share images with connected students over the internet. It will permit me to capture materials and stream real-time images to my computer via USB. Its adjustable arm and camera head gives flexibility for capturing at different heights and angles. Through the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will purchase lessons on sustainability, carbon footprint, energy sources, mathematics, native plants, organic gardening, eco-friendly gardening, etc. Students will also need to take photos through the stages of development, laminate, and label.

Each semester the students present to peers, families, and our community via STEM Showcases. The items will help my students to learn new technical skills and aid the students' creativity as they use the engineering design process to create sustainable projects, garden and outdoor classroom and present their projects to our school body and community.
