This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students at my school come from a multitude of diverse backgrounds and attend our school from low-income neighborhoods across Indianapolis. A majority of them receive free lunch and face many additional challenges, both inside and outside of the classroom, such as lack of access to technology and other opportunities.
STEM careers are in high demand so my school works to support students by providing a STEM-based learning environment to encourage them to enter STEM fields.
They are an amazing group of 4th grade students.
My Project
My students will have daily access to use the laptops being supplied so that they can easily research information for science and complete independent learning during math. These laptops will also allow students to type up research papers and practice typing skills that are desperately needed in today's society. The calculators provided will allow students to independently check their answers when completing math assignments instead of solely relying on the teacher to check. This will increase student independence.
Techology access is important for students to get real-world experience ot turn them into th technological thinkers the world is asking them to become.
Technology is always changing and having access to laptops on a daily basis will allow them to research the changes and experience them at their own hands.
