Help me give my students Sphero Bolts for real-world examples to connect the importance and fascination of mathematics.

Most of my students are from the near east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Indianapolis east side community is an upcoming urban neighborhood that is slowly overcoming poverty and crime but has several opportunities for students to succeed. The daily life struggles my students face outside of the classroom makes it difficult for them to have an open mindset that they can succeed, despite their surroundings. The majority of my students are energetic, ambitious, and enjoy learning. I firmly believe that the more opportunity students have to differentiate their learning through projects and real-world examples, the easier it becomes for them to grasp the content.
Our school's mission is to "Prepare students to be life-long learners who are knowledgeable, productive, well-rounded citizens in an interdependent global society." To accomplish this mission, we are giving our students the best opportunities to do so.
With this project, the goal is to get my students to understand that basic math skills laid the foundation for all the great technology you see around you today. By purchasing Sphero Bolts, students will be able to discover hands-on how math coincides with technology. There are several activities and lesson plans designed specifically to differentiate math concepts to use with the Sphero Bolts. One activity in particular I'm excited about is called super smiles. With the super smiles activity students will be able to program the Bolt to smile at other Bolts who are feeling down or sad. Having students doing this activity will increase the morality in my classroom and hopefully throughout the building.
