Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Title One School in New Jersey with a diverse student population of 1,236, we wish to provide our students with opportunities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We would like to implement this program as part of our science curriculum in addition to an enrichment academy in grades 6-8. As an urban school district, funding is an issue. We would appreciate any support that you could offer regarding funding sources and the next steps that we need to take to implement STEM in our school.
My Project
The WikkiStix Big Count Box Molding & Sculpting Sticks, Modeling Clay and other materials will allow my students to work collaboratively as they aim to break down real-world problems in project based learning centers.. As a teacher in a Title One School in a very diverse community, students need access to hands-on interactive materials to help them grow and develop into the future scientists and engineers of the world. The STEM curriculum is essential for the development of critical thinking, creativity, engineering design and problem-solving skills.
