My students need these STEM items like coding robots, magnetic tiles and more as an alternative to boring and redundant morning work papers. I want them to start each day in a creative way!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have many different ethnic groups and are unfortunately very high in our poverty rating. Our school is constantly taking in more students with even more diverse needs. We are the biggest elementary in our town and our kids deserve so much! My classroom has a very high English Language Learner population. I am constantly trying to find ways to make students more comfortable and feel welcome in both our school and my classroom.
My Project
I am asking for these materials to put a new twist on my morning routine. My students groan and moan every morning when I ask them to work on their morning work page. What a way to start the day huh?
I want them to come in excited to learn by starting the day with creativity using STEM materials.
My students will use these materials in a free choice morning work system. They will be the leaders in their own learning. If they want to practice standards based learning worksheets or even read...they can. BUT, I want to be able to give them the choice to also do something more hands on to get them ready for the day.
