This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at an inner city school in St. Louis where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The school provides the bare minimum supplies. Teachers and great donors like you provide the rest of what my students need to be successful.
My kiddos come to school every day happy to be there and ready to learn!
They are funny, honest, caring, and smart! While I have students who are reluctant to try, I also have students that are driven to excel. Students entering my classroom are challenged to be the best version of themselves. Sure we have off days but we truly are working to build world citizens that are smart, kind, and capable. In our classroom community, we all help each other succeed. I am forever grateful for the students that I have been chosen to help grow, and the parents that collaborate with me.
My Project
Thank you for viewing my project. This project is for those things that get overlooked. Every year I ask kiddos to bring in headphones and every year only about 3 do. They are also poorly constructed and not built to last in a trauma informed classroom.
Imagine trying to focus on your work and you hear sound from other devices and students reading out loud.
Many of the skills I am asking students to do require focus and higher level thinking. Using headphones and whisper phones will create a quiet atmosphere that will allow students to focus on tasks in science, math, reading, and coding that were specifically designed for them.
