This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I high school with hard-working students who are committed to their education and making contributions to their community. As teachers, we strive to make our school a supportive, encouraging environment where our students are excited to learn every day. I once read a quote that said, “A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are.” I want to enable students to see their potential and become lifelong learners.

We strive to enable our students (over 70% of the students qualify for free meals) to become future leaders that possess integrity, compassion, and a drive to make their communities better.

My colleagues and the school leadership raved about how awesome the students are, which is one reason I chose to come to this community. This is my second year here and I am impressed by how helpful and courteous the students are. I am excited to be here and I am so glad that I moved to this county.

My Project

Several students struggle to sit still during class. I know how difficult it is to be still and learn, I struggled with this growing up. If I had to be still, I would fall asleep after about 30 minutes. Luckily, teachers and friends would wake me up and teachers would allow me to get up and move around in order to wake up. I wish Wobble Chairs had existed when I was a child because I think being able to move while seated would have helped me stay awake.

I want to offer students Wobble Chair Feet to turn their standard chairs into Wobble Chairs that will allow them to rock, wiggle, and bounce safely.

Rocking and wiggling in standard chairs is dangerous and breaks the chairs which are costly to replace. The Wobble Chair Feet will allow students to move quietly without distracting other students. Being able to move without bringing attention to themselves with help students stay awake and focused on learning. I hope that you will choose to support my students and their need for movement during learning.
