My Students
I teach kindergarten in a suburb of a large city in Missouri. We are a National Blue Ribbon School, a National School of Character and a Missouri Gold Star School. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. It doesn't matter what they have experienced the first five years of their lives before coming to school because all children are the same in that they love learning! They love being active, engaged participants in their learning.
Kindergarten is a magical age in which everything is exciting to students.
I am blessed that I get to be their very first elementary teacher!
My Project
One of the best parts of my day is when I am able to send home STEM take home kits with my students and books for them to read. The STEM kits provide fun and challenging problems for them to solve. The books I send home help foster a love of reading and give them additional practice.
The STEM kit boxes are starting to break down and crack and are in need of repair, and the book bags I am using are falling apart due to natural wear and tear.
We need to replace these items so that the children can safely take these items home and back to school again.
