Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 7th grade is comprised of around 115 amazing students, who come from very diverse backgrounds, bilingual households, receive free or reduced lunch and attend a Title I School. Our goal is to prepare our 7th graders for high school, college and career. They are some of the most creative and inventive students I have had the pleasure to teach. With this 3D printer, my students will be able to print items for various STEM or STEAM related projects in my classroom.
With the transition to Common Core mathematics, students have been given larger, real-world problems that require technology at an earlier age. Students will see content to life and make personal connections for a project that addresses a problem present in some of the communities they inhabit. In the end, they will be problem-solvers, empowered to take the skills and knowledge in their class to improve their lives and those of people around them. Another skill that the students learn that they can use in what ever they do in the future is TEAMWORK. Some of the students do not understand what some of the things that they learn in math class, until they have to apply that knowledge to solve a real world problem. With the various STEM and STEAM projects we do in class the students will create products to solve real world problem with hands on activities.
In Their Own Words
The main goal of this project is to create a desire to expand the students knowledge of STEM and STEAM. Use this to future their education and possibly go to college and have a career in engineering. I will also use this project to create leadership and teamwork opportunities so they can advance their learning possibilities.

Creating this project opens several leadership opportunities for students and teachers on campus including MESA and other STEM related extra-curricular activities. The project can help cultivate the educational community in Collier and can be very beneficial to classrooms and can inspire generations of students to participate in leadership program in our school and community.
