Help me give my students a Fully Loaded Mobile STEM Station where they can engage in activities such as engineering roller coasters, use giant magnets to set off giant chain reactions, and tons of other STEM concepts.
I teach awesome first graders in a rural, low-economic area.
For the last 4 years ALL students at my school have received free breakfast and lunch.
Which means funding is extremely limited with major budget cuts happening every year. We use most of our allotment to purchase copy paper and construction paper.
What I need, and am unable to get through my school, are STEM kits appropriate for first graders. My students are naturally curious about science and they love when we do science experiments.
Due to minimum funding my students do not have many science resources. Most of the time our science lessons are incorporated into our Language Arts curriculum, which does not provide students any hands-on activities for science.
Our current science resources pre-date the movement toward Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics or STEM.
These materials will provide my first graders with 11 different STEM kits designed for K-2nd grade. Students will be engineering roller coasters, experimenting with magnets to make chain reactions, and even includes a dry erase, magnetic whiteboard for students to plan their design. All these activities are on a mobile cart.
