OUR second grade class is made up of students who absolutely LOVE to learn! We love soccer. We love to ask questions. We enjoy math games. But ultimately, our class is a little family. We are each unique and different but that makes it fun because we all come together to learn, laugh, take risks, make friends and spread kindness. Our door says "ALL are welcome here" and it could not be more accurate!
I am a first year teacher and with that comes my enthusiasm and determination to provide my students with the best.
Our class is just a small part of the absolutely amazing community within our building. Approximately 75% of our students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. And a majority of our students come from one parent households. These students are the MOST caring, intelligent, and hardworking kids you'll meet. I absolutely love teaching them and hope to give them as much I can.
My Project
Students in my class love hands on learning. They love to build and create. However, we do not have enough materials for all students to engage in this super STEM learning. I have one set of 20 magna-tiles and it always the first thing to be snatched up during STEM time!
This year, I am hoping to bring enough STEM tools into the classroom in order to help spark the love of learning though hands-on play for ALL students!
STEM is learning through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. By providing students the opportunity to learn with STEM tools, they take ownership of their learning in an extremely exciting and educational way. They will build fine-motor skills. They must work through kinks. They must problem solve. They will innovate. They must learn how to work cooperatively. I have no doubt that bringing STEM bins into our classroom will enhance learning and get all children excited about their time at school!
