Many of my students face challenges in life due to poverty, unstable housing, and language barriers. Although life is not easy, my students are extremely positive, grateful, and happy children. Our school faces the same issues many other schools face in low socioeconomic areas. We strive to meet the basic needs of our students so they are successful in school. My students are amazing people. They are extremely motivated, positive, and honest.
"We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he/she is someone today." — Stacia Tauscher.
My Project
3rd graders learn about magnetism, energy, and forces. These concepts cannot be taught or learned through textbooks alone. My students need magnets in their hands to understand how they actually work. They need to conduct experiments with golf balls, bouncy balls, and ping pong balls to understand force, friction, and mass. The STEM and STEAM projects allow for research, problem solving, writing, recording data, analyzing, and presentation of material and information to peers.
Students learn by doing.
They need hands-on supplies to help understand science concepts, to explore new ideas, and to create and conduct STEAM and STEAM projects.
