My students need science materials to investigate learning standards, such as forces, motion, space, and use prepared slides and specimens to explore life sciences.
My students can't get enough of science! Having manipulatives at centers will help my students build a foundation of basic science concepts in order for them to springboard into higher levels of scientific thinking.
My students are in a self-contained fifth grade classroom in an intermediate school.
All of the students in our district receive free breakfast and lunch everyday through a federal grant. This was awarded to them because so many are economically disadvantaged. Although they come from poverty, they are willing to work hard to achieve success.
My Project
In our classroom, students work at centers while the teacher works with small groups. During centers, students may practice science vocabulary, conduct an experiment, or work on a group problem. We would like to have our centers include more STEM projects like the Space Lander STEM Learning Lab. The Solar System Learning Tub and Forces & Motion Learning Tub will provide many opportunities for experimentation. The slides will help students learn more about animals. All of these activities will help students explore concepts in science that we would be learning in class.
These donations will greatly improve my students' confidence in science.
Instead of struggling with basic knowledge, they will be able to use manipulatives to explore the concepts they are learning in class.
