My students need STEM materials: STEM Science Stations, Magna Tiles, Design and Build Engineering Centers, The Ultimate Fort Builder, and Ramps and Balls Exploration Set and Storage Box.
Developmental kindergarten is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a paintbrush. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and boogie to a sweet tune.
In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.
We are part of a larger school that celebrates inclusion. I teach in a wing of five kindergartens, three general education and two developmental. As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to try small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
My students need STEM materials to work on problem solving skills. This will challenge higher level thinking and help them learn perseverance when they reach a challenging situation. My students love to learn through exploration. The materials we are requesting support design and building, open-ended exploration, critical thinking, working with peers, problem solving, and overall opportunity to learn higher level skills.
Students learn the most when they are given an opportunity to truly dive into a task and work through possible solutions.
My students need STEM activities that promote exploration, as well as play based learning materials that promote higher level thinking while being developmentally appropriate. They will be able to design individual projects as well as work with peers on designing and creating various science and engineering tasks.
My students would love the opportunity to work with Magna Tiles, Design and Build Engineering Centers, The Ultimate Fort Builder, and Ramps and Balls Exploration Set. Students will be challenged, actively engaged and have fun while they're learning. They will be able to discover through play and exploration how ramp length and height effects speed. Through fort building and magna tiles they will discover what designs are stable, hold the most people or hold a higher volume of materials, while working on problem solving skills and perseverance when things get challenging. Please help my students have access to materials that will truly promote a rich learning experience.
