My Students

Students enrolled in STEM Scholars program are intelligent, well-spoken and are intrigued by STEM concepts. Students will be using App Inventor to create apps. They will also participate in the Thinkfinity app challenge sponsored by Verizon.

There are 30 African-American boys enrolled in the STEM Scholars program.

The students are in 7th grade. These young men have innovation and creativity pumping in their veins. They just need an opportunity to share their gifts with the world! They are interested in pursuing STEM careers in the future.

My Project

The students will be using the Android tablets to create apps using App Inventor. They will create apps, scan the QR codes, and download the apps they create onto the tablets I am requesting. They will be participating in the Thinkfinity/Verizon app challenge. If students win the challenge, Verizon will give them funding to create their app and put it on the market for sell. This will give my students an entrepreneurial focus as well as push their creativity to extraordinary limits.

This program will help enrich student knowledge of STEM concepts.

It will also help students to further expand upon concepts they learn in class. Funding of this project will provide my students with the necessary skills to explore becoming an entrepreneur as well as encourage creativity and innovation. Who knows, maybe they will invent an app that will change the world!
