My students need K'NEX : Roller coaster Building Set to help them create more hands-on Engineering projects to apply the concepts they have learned about forces and motion!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 4th grade Science teacher working at a school preparing for STEM certification. I am the Science teacher for all the 4th grade students at my school. I want to provide my students with opportunities to apply what they are learning to real-world problems.
My students come from a variety of diverse cultures, values, and life experiences.
Their home lives and economic situations vary greatly from student to student. Despite my students' many differences, my students are all very similar in the sense that they use their strengths to learn, experiment, and create astounding projects together in my class.
My students are learning how to work together to become more responsible for their learning by participating in a variety of student-led STEM projects. Through the use of STEM projects, I am confident that my students will continue to grow and develop by applying the science, technological, engineering, and math skills they are learning in my classroom.
My Project
Through the use of the K'NEX: STEM roller coaster kits, my students will be to apply the concepts they have learned about force and motion to real world problems such as creating thrilling roller coasters.
My students love to visit theme parks and ride roller coasters, so this project will help them to gain a better understanding of what they are learning by applying the concepts of force and motion through an engaging project that is related to something they are familiar with!
My students will be able to create engineering projects in class that resemble real world models of roller coasters.
