My students need STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) materials, resources, and games! These games, resources, and materials will create a learning space to further engage and encourage STEM learning and exploration!
“I’m a champion! You’re a champion! We build champions!” This school wide chant, inspired by Rita Pierson, is one that teachers and students truly believe in at our school! Each student, teacher, and staff member plays a very important role in building up our community of champions! We believe that through positive relationships and rigorous academics, our students are able to best be prepared for college, career, and life. These principles and beliefs are instilled in each and every one of our students starting in kindergarten! Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides top-notch academics, has thoughtful teachers, and a safe, fun, and inspiring learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in the state each year.
There are 26 fantastic, curious, intuitive students in our kindergarten class!
Many of them come from bilingual households and bring a rich and unique culture to our classroom community.
My Project
My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education and have a great interest in STEM. Education is changing every single day, and so are the future careers and technologies. My students will be the next generation to create, so I want to make sure I'm able to provide an environment that helps them to be their most successful selves in the next chapter. With that, STEM enhances critical thinking, teamwork, and cooperation skills. Students in my classroom like to ask question, imagine, plan, create, and improve- they are natural engineers!
Our STEM resources are limited, so I would like to have resources that will encourage the interests of my students'.
I would also like to add on to our classroom calendar, a daily routine that incorporates math, days of the year, months of the year, patterns, etc. I would also like a listening center for my students. The listening center will enhance a love for reading and build on reading skills. Struggling readers will often follow along with their eyes as the listening center reads the words. This will help build confidence in my readers.
