My students are ones that are exploring areas of STEM. Being in a small rural area, they are not exposed to some of the same things as urban schools so we are trying to fill this need and they are absorbing it like a sponge.
Our school is one that literally sits in the middle of a cornfield and has students from 5 different communities.
These students are inquisitive and do not have some of the same opportunities as the students going to urban schools. So our STEM class is being used to help them explore areas that they may not be familiar with.
With our school being so small, we do not have all of the resources needed to provide classes in the areas of technology such as video making, programming, robotics, etc. The material being requested will help to provide the students with exposure to these areas. My students need a Laptop Charging station, Dash&Dot Robot, Animation Studio, Makey Makey, Circuit Kit, and 3D printer filament.
By offering an exploratory class in STEM, we are able to provide students with interests in these areas some exposure to areas that we do not have actually courses in.
These students will be challenge to explore their interests in these areas.
