Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Native American students are unique, visual, and intuitive. They perform better with culturally responsive teaching and they love to work in cooperative teams. Technology has opened a window for them to explore and go beyond the boundaries of their beautiful landscape at the reservation.
This is my fifth year teaching STEAM and it has been a very successful implementation of a project-based/problem-solving STEAM class, where students were able to learn Common Core Standards and create hands-on projects.
My students are very creative and insightful, and I was delighted that this teaching approach addressed the different learning styles represented in my classroom.
In addition, their geographical isolation has made students more reflective about the world around them. I want to offer them the best classroom environment to quench their curiosity and develop their STEAM projects in a more comfortable atmosphere.

What a great opportunity! PowerMyLearning is designed for teachers in grades 3-8, the PowerMyLearning Family Engagement Innovators Program includes professional development and 12-months of access to PowerMyLearning's award-winning Family Playlists®— a multilingual, mobile-friendly homework innovation that leverages the “learning by teaching” strategy to have students teach what they are learning to a family partner at home. The research-based innovation has proven impact on student understanding and social emotional learning: students using Family Playlists made statistically significant gains in math proficiency equivalent to four additional months of learning. Participating teachers have access to over 200 pre-built, standards-aligned playlists across subjects. Featured in the The New York Times and EdSurge, Family Playlists are available in over 100 languages, and require no parent email or app download, making it easy for all families to participate!
