it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! The assignment that I have for this year is an EST, an Extra Support Teacher for 8 teachers in 2nd and 3rd grades. For 3rd grade, I pull out the active learners for a stimulating small group setting with tools and materials individually prepared. For Second I teach writing and Enrichment for our English proficient students. Our population is located in a high poverty area and the emphasis is not always on learning, it is meeting their basic needs. They are very curious and ready to learn!
I need STEM projects and resources to engage my students in active learning!
Using hands on projects and fun, friendly colorful resources will keep their attention longer than classic textbooks. I want to use the resources to really engage the students natural curiosity to learn. The new friendly resources will really encourage my students with low language to use communication skills and work together.
My Project
My students are so inventive. Most of them are highly active children which means they are also pretty hands on. The Wikki Sticks, building bricks STEM, the architecture building set and real world STEM set will let them be innovative and creative! Lets see them flourish.
Let's capitalize on their strengths and let's give them the tools to create and solve real life situations!
If school, and maybe even reading, isn't one of their strengths, let's give them something that he can be proud of! I've got a printer and I can capture their proud moment of creation and put their achievements on the wall to have something to be proud of. Learning is FUN!
