Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is filled with 11 extremely lively and sweet little people. We have some young children that are very artistic and love to draw. Some are very articulate and love to talk and tell stories. Some came into the classroom quite timid, but are always growing in confidence. Two are developing their voices and are constantly improving.
These children bring happiness and optimism to my days.
I am hoping that my children will have the opportunity to experience some amazing things!
My Project
The magnetic tiles as well as the large shapes that can be strung into patters will help to show the kids that shapes are not just something we draw, but something that we see in everyday life. The increased exposure to the shapes will help the to remember not only the names, but the details about them. The easel will help my wonderful aide have somewhere to write down information, that the students may need to copy. Her desk is not near a white board.
Math is such a major component in STEM!
The magnetic tracing of the numbers is an excellent find. My students do some tracing, but using tablets and that only helps them to use their finger, but this tool will allow them to hold something very similar to a pencil and help them to write the numbers correctly when they switch to pencils. The STEM activities set is also so brilliant! It is great to find things like this because they offer us activities that are not only fun, but are aligned with the age and grade of the children being taught the information.
